A jewel of the Rhône Valley's wine heritage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of the greatest French wines. It was in the 14th century that Pope John XXIII had a fortress built in Châteauneuf, and developed the famous vineyard there. On the wine side, a beautiful golden colour, a floral and fruity nose. A delicate and balanced wine.
Yes yes, there is such a thing as Châteauneuf-du-Pape blanc and it would even seem that it is very good!
For a more gourmet lunch or dinner. Drink immediately or keep for 3 to 5 years. Serve between 8 and 9°C.
Very good for seafood, especially scallops, lobster and fish. With age, the wine goes very well with Roquefort or comté cheese but also with foie gras.
