A fairly classic fish that always causes a sensation for its soft texture. But what wine with cod? Often better plain with a drizzle of olive oil but also flattering with a few pieces of candied lemons, cod is an excellent piece of fish that we love to work with.
Many will prefer white wine even if some will propose a light and fruity red wine to go off the beaten track.
White wines with cod :
Fattier wines such as Puligny-Montrachet white (Burgundy) and Meursault white (Burgundy).
Wines for a mix between floral and fruity: Graves blanc de Bordeaux.
A favorite with fish: Pouilly-fumé and Sancerre.
The Sancerres, Pouilly-fumées to find this taste of flint, stone-gun as they often say, especially if the fish is lemony. A Cheverny for those who love Sauvignon and a Savennières to discover an excellent wine on a Chenin grape variety.
