The estate, in the Grignan-les-Adhémar appellation, is located on deep pebble soils. The vines bury themselves to find the freshness of the soil, emerge strengthened, well anchored in their soil. This presence of stones over 1.50m favours the drainage of the plots and allows the sun to heat the soil in depth... Some vines have roots of more than 5 metres, enjoy a climate on the border between the northern Rhône Valley and the Mistral, which cleanses and cools the leaves and grapes. Man's passion then allows the translation of this terroir and climate into the grape, into the bottle, for the senses.
The stony lands of the estate were formerly in the hands of Baron d'Escalin, whose estate bears his name and perpetuates his philosophy. The Baron was an open-minded person, in search of progress but also in concern for gesture, respect for nature, a taste for good things.
Baron d'Escalin is first and foremost a brand with a strong historical heritage. It evokes this ambassador, Antoine Escalin des Aimars known as "the Baron", Renaissance knight, adventurer, epicurean, open to the world but loyal to his origins. It inspires Provençal conviviality, savoir-vivre and know-how and perfectly symbolizes the spirit of this new wine-making adventure. Today, the winegrower continues to transmit the same values and the identity of his terroir in his vintages.
