The winemaker's pride
A family business for 4 generations, Caveau Quinard is located on the high banks of the Rhône valley, in Massignieu-de-Rives, close to the ViaRhôna. The Quinard estate comprises 13 hectares of vines, with Gamay, Pinot and Mondeuse grapes for the reds and Chardonnay, Roussette and Molette for the whites. These three terroirs produce typical, seductive wines. From the gravelly limestone-clay soils of the Rhone's ancestral meanders, to the greasy molasse of the Rhone's ancient glacier, to the stony iron soils of the Jurassic era. Julien Quinard committed to organic farming in 2009, when the entire vineyard was converted to organic farming. No synthetic products (herbicides, insecticides) or chemical fertilizers are used. The vines are treated only with minerals and plants to produce the healthiest grapes possible. Vinification is traditional, with no yeast added. This implies more manual work (ploughing one traille out of 2, leaving the other grassed), which facilitates the passage of equipment.
