Anecdotes about the domain
Since 2016, we have been the winners of the final of the Concours Féminalise, which rewards the best wines in France. The particularity of this competition: the jury is composed exclusively of female oenologists. It is our Rosé de Saignée that, year after year, makes us win.
The domain's short story
Maison Charlier et Fils was born from the union of two Champagne winegrowing families. The Charlier family and the Perrin family have, for several generations, innovated, created and developed the vineyard, while passing on the know-how typical of the region. Here, you can appreciate the magnificent foudrerie created in the last century in huge oak barrels. After admiring the carvings made on the barrels, you can taste the fine bubbles inside these beautiful vaulted cellars.
The winemaker's pride
Our vineyard is located in the commune of Montigny-sous-Châtillon, well established on the Champagne tourist route. On the right bank of the Marne, the vineyard extends over 15 hectares, divided into 41 parcels on 5 hillsides. The exposure of our vineyard is particularly interesting, since in addition to a unique climate, all three grape varieties face due south. We have very old vines compared with the rest of the region: their average age is around 33 years. We therefore limit the yield of our vines so that we can grow ripe, tasty grapes that will produce good champagnes.
