Château Cantinot is a 37 hectare vineyard located in Cars, a few kilometres from Blaye.
As producers of red wines, we work with four grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec.
We have been using sustainable agriculture since 2002 and are now in the process of converting to organic agriculture.
Château Cantinot is above all a family story. After a life devoted to the maritime world, Yann Bouscasse acquired Château Cantinot in 2002 with his wife Florence, née Vieljeux, 50km from Bordeaux, on the right bank. The man of the sea has fallen in love with this land and these vines, which he wants to accompany with passion to produce great wines. Since then, two of the four children have joined the ship, which now weighs 37 hectares with the purchase of Châteaux Haut-Boutet and Capron. Nicolas, the youngest, will be in charge of the technical side of the vineyard and the cellar until 2017, and Tristan, the youngest, will be in charge of the management and the business, with a recognized Cordon Bleu sommelier diploma in his pocket.
Today, Tristan has taken over the management of the property, supported by his partner, Sophie Guillaumin-Grimaldi. The new generation is now embarking on the conversion to organic farming.
One meeting that marked us was with Olivier Dauga, our muse, who allowed us to reveal great vintages year after year. He advises us on a daily basis. For us, Château Cantinot is above all a great wine story that begins with a great water story.
Grassing is natural. Sometimes, weeding is done by hand under the rows. We thin the leaves manually and with control in order to give the vines resistant berries with a good sugar content. Our wines are made in several ways depending on the needs: stainless steel and concrete tanks, Burgundy barrels, truncated conical wooden tanks, microvinification maturing.
