Château Coucy is an AOC Montagne Saint-Emilion property that bears the name of an old English family that settled in Aquitaine in the 15th century. Our 20-hectare estate is made up of a single piece of land and is home to two grape varieties that are characteristic of the Grand Saint-Emilion region. A chapel designed by Viollet-le-Duc overlooks the hilltops of this 20-hectare estate in one piece. Passionate about wine, Florence Galande took over the property in 2017. Her efforts to magnify the vineyard have allowed her to fully express the richness of the terroir in the quality of her wines, while meeting new environmental challenges. An important renovation work has also been carried out: the buildings dedicated to winemaking, maturing, order preparation and welcoming our visitors have been completely refurbished. Our desire is above all to safeguard the natural aromas of the berries. We produce generous and greedy wines, with a strong fruit presence, so that the powerful red fruit aromas are delicately blended with woody notes. The grapes are completely destemmed. In the cellar, we proceed to a rigorous sorting, thanks to the use of a densimetric bath. In order to preserve the fruit, our blend is elaborated after 12 months, with one third of the production aged in French oak barrels and two thirds in tanks. Our work is oriented towards the respect of our ecosystem. Our actions in the vineyard as well as in the cellar tend towards a healthier and more environmentally friendly agriculture.

Our story

The first gold medal certificate at the Paris competition for Château Coucy dates back to 1891. We want to perpetuate this ambition to produce wines of great quality while respecting the environment through sustainable viticulture. The property is certified HVE in 2018. The complete renovation of the cellars and vat room allows us to magnify our unique terroir. Even today the wines of Chateau Coucy are regularly rewarded.

Other little stories

On the former commune of Parsac, in the heart of the Cabernet-Franc rows, we discover the white clays characteristic of the village. It is on this parcel, the most southern of the vineyard, that stands a chapel designed by Viollet-le-Duc.
