The Château de Champ-Renard has been a wine estate since 1765. Located in the commune of Blacé, between Mont Brouilly and Villefranche sur Saône, the Château is surrounded by 7.5 hectares of vines. We produce red AOP Beaujolais-Villages wines, with very pronounced aromas of red and black fruits and silky tannins, as well as Gamaret, a Swiss grape variety with a garnet-red colour and slightly purplish tints, from 60-year-old plots. We also produce white wines from Chardonnay in the Burgundy and Beaujolais-Villages appellations.
In 2014, we took over the farm to create high quality wines. Very attached to our environmental values, we are in organic conversion since March 2021. Labelled HVE3 and Terra Vitis, we work our vines in the respect of biodiversity. We are committed to vinifying our wines in the most natural way possible, all our wines are vinified until bottling without sulphites and certified VEGAN.
We took over the Domaine de Champ-Renard in 2014. What appealed to us was that there was everything and nothing: no heating, cobbled-together electricity, amenities in a wing of the chateau that allowed us to set up shop the first year, a vineyard that needed to be completely restructured, zero wine stock and zero customers. After two years of work, planting 2 hectares of vines and upgrading the winery, we signed our first vintage in 2016 and began opening up the Chateau with performances - plays, concerts - art exhibitions and open days. "I've been circling for 70 years, finally I can get in!" a former farm worker on the estate marveled on one open house day.
