At Château de Couches, we cultivate two arts: the art of entertaining and the art of wine. We cultivate a fenced area of almost 3 hectares which is located inside the castle itself. We work with classic Burgundy grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Aligoté, and since almost the entire site is open to the public, it is difficult for us to vinify the grapes harvested directly from the estate. We therefore entrust the vinification of our harvests to the winegrowers of the Côtes du Couchois who collaborate with Blason de Vair. It is under this name that you can find our blended vintages from all our local production, we cultivate our vineyard in sustainable agriculture and in mono-parcellaire. Right up to the cellar, we want to produce the most natural wine possible and worthy of the greatest wines of Burgundy. We therefore use as few inputs as possible, especially sulphites, during vinification.
The history of our castle is very distant. The construction of the main building dates back more than 500 years, to the Middle Ages. The medieval castle of Couches is also called Marguerite de Bourgogne. Classified as a historical monument, Château de Couches offers an ideal opportunity to discover the different phases of the building's construction between the 11th and 19th centuries. When you arrive in the park of the neighbouring village, you will not be able to miss the castle and its vineyards.
The 3 hectares of vines that depend on the property are located in six different municipalities. However, the terroir is particular to each of them. The wines are produced in the appellations AOC Bourgogne Côtes de Couchois and AOC Bourgogne.
