Since 1870, Château de la Croix, a 32ha family property, has been passing on its know-how for 5 generations. A cross at the entrance to the village, an ancient landmark for pilgrims heading for Santiago de Compostela, gives its name to this family estate rocked by the winds of the Atlantic Ocean and the Gironde estuary. In the heart of the Médoc, the Francisco family produces its wines with respect for the terroir and a constant concern for quality. Since 1932, this château has been on the highly prized list of crus bourgeois and the strengthening of the selection criteria in 2008 only confirmed its high quality. In 2010, the 5th generation took the lead in the domain. It brings a perfume of renewal, without denying the essential values of the family. This is our slogan "A Family A Land A Passion". During your stay in the Médoc, do not miss to stop on this beautiful property where you will be welcomed by the owner in person! So passionate, he will take you on a fascinating journey through the history of vines and wine...
Today, the Château de la Croix extends over 32 ha and 12 ha of woodland, used to make the stakes used to train the vines. The vineyard is managed with extreme care and attention to detail. Representative of the great terroirs of the appellation, this property draws its strength from the diversity of the soils, conducted differently to reveal their best expression. All this means that we have inherited a treasure that we will continue to pamper!
We are winemakers at heart! Jean, the father tells us how much he was in a hurry when he left school to take care of his three vines planted behind the house. In total harmony with nature, he often compares the vine to a child, whom he cares for and observes, to better support its growth.
Stephanie, her daughter, explains that when she was a child, she used to follow her father and grandparents through the vineyards and the cellar all the time! She is also very proud of the work accomplished by previous generations, who have been able to counteract the vagaries of the weather and the difficult years. We now have a beautiful family property in our hands that we must improve!
Bordeaux is a beautiful wine region with of course its great wines but even more so its family properties with wines at very moderate prices. We must therefore stop saying that all Bordeaux wines are expensive! Our wines are in our image; powerful and complex! They are perfect to accompany the good times and bring the joy of life.
