Château de Minière cultivates 18 hectares of vines, including 2 hectares of old (very old) vines from 90 to 110 years old. The king grape variety cultivated by Kathleen is Cabernet Franc, which she then vinifies to offer 8 vintages (red and rosé) and a grape juice: wines from the Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil appellation 100% Cabernet!
Today, the winegrower strives to respect her soils and the biodiversity present in the vineyard. Château de Minière then obtained the Organic Agriculture label (by Ecocert).

Our story

Kathleen and Sigurd were won over by the beauty of this estate, its Château and its vineyards. Before arriving in the Loire, they visited several other estates before visiting the Château de Minière. It was love at first sight for the couple!

Château de Minière is an old 16th century tufa house surrounded by a historic park and vineyards. It is located near the Grands Châteaux de la Loire such as Azay-le-Rideau. You can come by bike thanks to Loire Vélo: the largest cycle path in Western France.

Other little stories

The estate was acquired in 2010 by a Belgian couple, Kathleen Van den Berghe and Sigurd Mareels. For several centuries the vineyard has been managed by women: Kathleen has been perpetuating the tradition with her team. When Kathleen was in the vineyard, Sigurd worked in the mining industry: he played a decisive role in the acquisition of the property thanks to his activity... and in the choice of name too!
