Our story

Château de Myrat has been experiencing a real renaissance since 1988. Jacques and Xavier de Pontac, driven by the same passion as their ancestor, have entirely restored the vineyard: 22 hectares in one piece, replanted on the magnificent stone terroir of Haut-Barsac according to the original grape varieties in Semillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle. The two brothers have done their utmost to produce an exceptional, fine, elegant and distinguished Sauternes wine, recognised in 2001 by the Revue du Vin de France as "one of the best wines in Bordeaux".

Other little stories

"My sister and I are now the third generation to run Château de Myrat. We have made a radical professional change to take over the business, to which we are very attached, as well as our family history. What a magic to produce a wine from Sauternes, a small miracle of nature where everything is done on the vine, where the grapes attacked by noble rot are harvested grain by grain."

"We need rigour, rigour, high standards, and a permanent challenge, that of artistic craftsmanship, hand-sewn, where we must remain humble because we are subject to what Mother Nature offers us."
