Our story

In the 19th century, during the Napoleonic regime, at the time of the Italian campaign, Jean-Antoine Falcon, one of the Gasquet family's ancestors born in 1772, worked as a treasurer for the government. Appointed in Saint-Tropez, he married Marie-Madeleine Cauvin, heiress of an old local family who brought him a dowry of land in Pampelonne, where he had a "villa" built. His eldest son Adrien had the château of Pampelonne in its present state built during the Second Empire. When he died in 1869, he bequeathed the estate to his wife Amance de Gasquet. After the First World War, the Gasquet family decided to plant vines on two hectares, which grew over time to reach a surface area of 50 hectares today. Granddaughter of Christian Pascaud and Geneviève de Gasquet, I continue the tradition today. With a degree in oenology and many years of experience in winemaking, both with her father in Pampelonne and abroad (Chile, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia), since my return to the estate in 2014, I have been vinifying a blend of century-old Cinsault and Grenache giving birth to our Légende cuvée.

Other little stories

When I was asked as a child what I wanted to be when I grew up, I answered: a winegrower. I had an admiration for my father's work and also I was extremely attached to the family values behind it all. Working in the vineyard and making wine has always fascinated me. A little anecdote: Château de Pampelonne has been growing Eucalyptus for almost 70 years. Today, if you come to visit us, you will be able to discover many century-old species, and with us everything is a family affair. The property has been handed down from generation to generation, but not only... The vineyard manager is the fourth generation of the Arizzi family to work on the estate, pampering our vines. I will let you imagine how much knowledge of our terroir we have acquired over the decades and centuries. Finally, the great particularity of the estate is its location which makes the management of our vineyard in the middle of the Bay of Pampelonne so delicate and which gives our wines a slight saline note so typical of our terroir.
