(33) Gironde

Château de Sales is one of the rare estates in the Bordeaux region to have been entirely passed down from generation to generation since the end of the 15th century. Its charterhouse, built in 1647 and unchanged since then, has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1996. With 47.60 hectares of vines, out of the 90 hectares of the estate, the estate has the largest vineyard in the AOC Pomerol. The two wines of Château de Sales are the expression of the terroir of Pomerol, fruity, round and fleshy with silky tannins, smoothness and elegance. They are the result of the perfect match between the Merlot (majority), Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties and the gravel and sand soils. Come and discover this exceptional heritage and its unique family history. Visits in French, English or Mandarin, by reservation.

Our story

The de Lambert family has owned the land for nearly five centuries and has passed on the estate to the 17th generation through marriage and inheritance. The latter is composed of 14 cousins. The ambition of this generation is to give the property a prominent place within the Pomerol appellation and to make Château de Sales a reference in terms of quality, image and family management... to pass it on to the next generation and ensure that the adventure continues!

Other little stories

The transmission of Château de Sales was done by women. This tradition continues, as since 2017, SAS Château de Sales is chaired by a woman.
