Grand Gold Medal 2022 at the Trophées Bordeaux Vignoble Engagé : Alain and Céline work in integral ecology for great wines always more natural. Alain, from Provence, and Céline, from the Vendée, settled in the Bordeaux region in 1998 at Château Dubraud, in St Christoly de Blaye (40 km north of Bordeaux, on the right bank of the Gironde). What characterizes us: harvesting at perfect maturity to offer you round and gourmet wines, sincere, to be drunk young while having a very strong potential for ageing for our Grand Vin. Our environmental commitment (we are certified High Environmental Value level 3): respect for biodiversity and nature, through numerous commitments such as the use of 100% organic fertilizers, a flowery fallow with beehives etc. Appellations : Blaye (red) rare appellation (very high end!), Blaye-Côtes de Bordeaux (white and red), Bordeaux Supérieur (sweet), Bordeaux Clairet and Bordeaux Rosé. Vineyard : 26 hectares. Soils: clay-limestone and silico-clay for a diversity of expression. Plantations: 6000 vines/h Average yield: 50 hl/ha. Average age of the vineyard: 22 years. In Provence, everything happened in the place called Les Vidaux (a small hamlet inhabited only by Vidal's, uh Vidaux), in Pierrefeu du Var where the Vidal grandparents live. It was there that Alain grew up, before leaving for ENITA (agricultural engineering school) in Bordeaux to discover the Bordeaux region. After a 10 year break from Communication for Isagri, Alain is, at 35, caught up in his childhood project to become a winegrower, which Celine also shares. Alain is the search for everything that is greedy, in the glass and on the plate. Celine grew up in the Vendée and keeps her childhood in the countryside surrounded by her brothers, a deep attachment to nature; after her business studies in Paris and then in Germany, she joyfully adopted this life as close as possible to the vine and the cycle of the seasons and marvels at the beauty of nature. Very attached to the simple and pure pleasures of life, with Alain, they both transmitted their passion for cooking, and the happiness of a good meal in good company to their 4 children. celine is the search for beauty and goodness in human relationships as in wine!
On one of our plots, with an alternation of humidity and heat, we observed an unexpected phenomenon of noble rot in our estate: Surprise! was born, our sweet, sweet and spicy wine. We are the only ones to offer such a wine in the north of the Gironde, come and share it with us in St Christoly de Blaye, and we will take the opportunity to show you our white and red wines, in the Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux appellation as well as in the less well-known Blaye appellation (only 15 producers offer wine with a Blaye AOC!) and yet more than remarkable!
