Château Font Barrièle, managed in organic and biodynamic methods, is located at the crossroads of the Costières de Nîmes and Côtes du Rhône appellations, at the convergence of Arles, Nîmes and Avignon. It is located in a "Natura 2000" zone, a protection zone for various species of migratory birds. In very close collaboration with the COGard (Ornithological Center of the Gard), we have launched an ambitious project, not only to protect the local fauna and flora, but especially to repopulate threatened natural species. On the viticultural level, the domain is installed on a magnificent terroir of rolled pebbles more than 1.8 million years old. The vines contain the essence of southern grape varieties: Syrah, Grenache noir, Mourvèdre, in red; Grenache blanc, Roussanne, Viognier, Vermentino and Bourboulenc, in white.
The Gourjon family has always had a close relationship with the land. It was in 1857 that Auguste Gourjon planted the first vines on the property. Since then, Léon, Robert and now Christian have all contributed to the building of the estate... And they continue to write this moving family history.
We love our land, our vines, and of course, our wines. We like to work them with love, passion, rigor and technicality. Respect for biodiversity, respect for the environment, "vitiforestry", are more than just projects: they are a real commitment. We are committed and invested winemakers, in love with our beautiful job and our wines. Our greatest satisfaction is to give pleasure to our customers and to delight their taste buds when they taste our wines.
