Our estate is located on the small town of Labastide-d'Armagnac, in the Landes region. On the border with the Gers, we cultivate our 25 hectare vineyard on the appellations Floc de Gascogne, Bas Armagnac or the young Blanche Armagnac appellation.
The 25 hectares of the property's 82 total hectares are planted with a wide variety of grape varieties. We work with Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche and Baco for Armagnacs and Gros Manseng, Cabernet Sauvignon and Colombard for our Flocs de Gascogne.
We are part of the small group of forty or so producers in the region. Among these winegrowers, we are one of the only estates to own our still. Here, we distil our eaux de vie "continuously", full of fruit, flower and freshness aromas. The ageing in oak barrels is very important because the juices will age for several years in the barrels.
Since the 19th century, our Armagnac house has been working the land, distilling and bottling its eaux de vie. Prince Sukhorov Kobylin is the first owner of this estate. At the time, he supplied the Russian Court with armagnacs for many years: a guarantee of quality for the Landes company.
In 1919, the Garreau family took over the torch. Upon their arrival, they continued the work of their predecessors and went on to win competitions, tastings and tastings. The Armagnac of Château Garreau is well and truly at its peak.
For us, nothing is random. Our terroir is exceptional and the fact that we are located in the "golden triangle of Armagnac" plays a major role in the quality we find in tasting. The "tawny sands" give the brandies all their aromas of candied fruit, undoubtedly prunes and apricots.
