Château Gilbert & Gaillard belongs, as its name suggests, to the two international tasters. Its surface area is 15 hectares and it is located at the extreme south of the Saint-Chinian appellation on a limestone plateau on hillsides at an altitude of 200 metres within a natural park classified as Natura 2000. It is a family and artisanal estate, where the vines are grown in an environmentally friendly way. For information, part of the vineyard's soil is worked on horseback. And if you stop at the estate, you could have the chance to visit the vineyard in a horse-drawn carriage, all the work done has only one objective, to highlight our terroir and share our passion for this magnificent product, representative of our heritage, wine.

Our story

Château Gilbert & Gaillard was born from our encounter with an exceptional terroir; a limestone plateau on a hillside at an altitude of 200 metres located to the south of the Saint-Chinian appellation. Our philosophy? To express all the quintessence of our terroir, from the vine to the consumer. By discovering this terroir, we understood that we had the opportunity to create a grand cru served by minerality, freshness and elegance, and we do everything possible to produce it in a way that respects our environment.

Other little stories

The passion for wine has always accompanied us. I come from a family of winegrowers from the Loire Valley in Touraine. François Gilbert, obtained his diploma as a geographer by writing a thesis detailing the different terroirs of Languedoc. We became friends during vinification in Bordeaux in 1987. Then, we set up the international tasting group Gilbert & Gaillard. It is the opportunity to acquire this exceptional hillside that has pushed us to return to the terroir, with the irresistible desire to put our know-how into practice and to highlight all the richness of our appellations. To be a winegrower is to question yourself, to understand, to listen, and to be aware that all this does not really belong to us. We are passing through, and to do so, we must make our wine in an environmentally friendly way.

To be honest, in my youth, despite the fact that I come from a family of winegrowers, I had no idea I was working in the wine world. It is by visiting the French vineyard and being confronted with all its richness that I decided to develop my knowledge. People often ask me, what is different about my wines? Everything because they are unique. Our philosophy, in accordance with our terroir and grape varieties, makes them different from each other due to a multitude of factors.
