We are located a few minutes from Libourne where we work our 18 hectare vineyard. The wines of Château Haut-Goujon are in the Lalande de Pomerol and Montagne Saint-Émilion appellations.
Located between the Dordogne and Isle rivers, the Haut-Goujon vineyard benefits from the influences of its terroir. The climate is humid, warm and sunny: everything you need to make great wines!
We work in a socially responsible manner and act so that the vines are treated as naturally as possible. We replace the use of phytosanitary products on the entire vineyard with an organic treatment programme. Biodiversity is maintained and developed in the vine rows.
Since 1912, the activity of Château Haut-Goujon has been developed by the Garde family. At the time, it was Elie who planted the first 6 hectares of Merlot that would make up the 18 hectares of the vineyard that we know today. Robert took over and matured two vintages that would mark the history of the estate: 1945 and 1947.
In the middle of the 20th century, Henri, in charge of the farm, suffered the great frosts of 1956 which destroyed the entire Haut-Goujon vineyard. With the help of his wife Liliane, he replanted the entire farm with patience and perseverance.
In the 1990s, their children, Corinne, Mickaël and Vincent, took over the reins of the business and began major work to modernize work tools, vine growing methods and renovations to the property's buildings.
Being a winegrower is linked to the land. For Mickaël, this is important because she comes from her parents, who, through 50 years of work, have passed on a passion for the winemaking profession. Winegrower it is also about relationships, exchanges. Wine allows an opening to others. It is a way to make beautiful encounters, in the 4 corners of the world for the adventurers who will sell it.
Wine is about celebration, sharing! Corinne, Vincent and Mickaël Garde have set themselves the mission of sublimating the appellations Lalande-de-Pomerol and Montagne-Saint-Emilion. This brotherhood of winegrowers in love with their land intends to surprise you with the quality of its traditional vintages and the delicacy of its creative vintages. Let yourself be seduced!
A discovery of the grape varieties on a terroir, a revelation, experiences! "My father passed on his passion to me through work. I try to pass it on to wine lovers. The harvest is a very good memory for me: Spanish and Portuguese people came to the vineyard. All the passion you put into your work is tasted in the bottle. And there you can guess the character of the winegrower.
