Our story

Three families followed one another in 3 centuries to preside over the destiny of this Grand Cru Classé in Cantenac Margaux. Mark Kirwan of Irish origin inherited this estate by marrying the daughter of the owner Sir John Collingwood and also gave his name to the Château. Proud to seal the Franco-Irish friendship in Bordeaux, he will enlarge the vineyard by bringing together two small contiguous vineyards in the village of Cantenac. In 1855, during the selection of Médoc wines for the Universal Exhibition organised by Napoleon III, Château Kirwan was ranked first of the 3rd Grands Crus Classés du Médoc.

Other little stories

This castle has dedicated all its production to a very beautiful Bordeaux house Schroder-Schyler which ensures its exclusive distribution for Les Charmes de Kirwan and its availability for Les Grappes
