Château Lamothe

Since 1961, our family has owned this 16th century Château and its 7.5 hectare vineyard in the heart of the village of Sauternes. On this gravel and clay soil we adopt a reasoned cultivation and a great care in the selection of botrytised grains. After more than 2 years of ageing, the wine is ample, well balanced and persistent. We are proud of our 1855 Grand Cru Classé and cultivate this excellence.

Our story

Château Lamothe was built in the 16th century behind a Merovingian fortress. The Semillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle make up the vineyard. The result is fragrant and complex wines. Around the 3rd week of September, the harvest begins and the grapes are carefully sorted. The "noble rot" makes the grapes that make Sauternes something exceptional in the mouth.
