Anecdotes about the domain
Neo-vintner, from the world of information technology, naturally I settled in biodynamics with the objective of making sincere wines and without artifices, well anchored in their soil.
The domain's short story
Our 15 hectares are grouped together on the last hillside of the Côtes de Bourg and benefit from a full southern exposure. Cultivated in Biodynamics (Demeter certified), our domain enjoys a diversified environment and flora. Our soils are mostly gravelly. In the upper part of the hillside, we find small oxidized gravels, and in the slope and the lower part of the hillside, the soils are rather clayey. Half of our vines are over 35 years old. Our estate was founded in 1850 and has been published by Féret since 1875. The estate delivered its grapes directly to the Pugnac cooperative cellar from 1945 to 1993. The following year, it changed hands. The new owners invested in a new winery that allowed them to make their own wine. From their first harvests, they were recognized in the magazine Les Grands Vins de France and won numerous medals for the quality of their vintages. In 2010, we decided to take the plunge and live off our passion. Great lovers of local wines, we decided to choose a method of cultivation in organic and biodynamic agriculture (Demeter), in order to draw all the quintessence of our soil.
The winemaker's pride
The domain, born in 1850, was taken over in 1994 by Philippe Betschart, with the ambition of making sincere wines without artifice. It is in this logic that he chooses in 2010 a mode of culture in organic and biodynamic agriculture, and obtains the Demeter Label. His 15 hectares are grouped together on the last hillside of the Côtes de Bourg and benefit from a full southern exposure.
