Anecdotes about the domain
To be a winemaker is first of all to be a farmer, attached to the land, the forest and nature. It also means creating happiness and sharing around a place, a project or simply a bottle. The notion of sharing is very dear to me and I try to transmit this important notion to all those with whom I am in contact on a daily basis. The domain allows me to share a lot of good moments with the grape pickers as well as with the customers directly.
The domain's short story
The Leroy family has owned Château Barateau, a Cru Bourgeois in Saint Laurent, since the early 1990s. In 2004, Patrick Leroy seized the opportunity to develop his passion for wine, art and horses by acquiring Château Mascard. He invested himself to revive this vineyard and to offer authentic wines of the Medoc and the reception in a green setting of the customers. A real happiness for him to work around all his passions.
The winemaker's pride
Château Mascard is located in the Bel Air area of Saint Sauveur, in the heart of the Médoc. In this 22 hectare estate is the main house with its turret, the cellars and a reception room surrounded by small studios that can accommodate our guests. The vineyards are located a few kilometers away, on a Graves hillock characteristic of the best Médoc terroirs, in Saint Laurent Médoc. Patrick Leroy, owner of the Château, wanted to bring together art and wine. That's why you will be able to see during a visit in our cellars beautiful frescos and tags made by the artist Blade "The King of Graffiti", as well as sculptures and other works.
