The domain's short story
Located on the high plateau of Barsac, the estate of Château Piada, mentioned in the tributes of Aquitaine in 1274, is one of the oldest vineyards in Barsac and Sauternes. Former residence of the Lur-Saluces family until the revolution. Property bought by my grandfather in 1940 (he had been a farmer since 1920), my father ran the property from 1967 to 1999. I have been running it since 1999.
The winemaker's pride
The harvest at Château Piada and the vinification are carried out with the greatest care. After the maturity of the grapes and its concentration due to botrytis cinerea, the grapes are picked by successive selections from 2 to 5, the pickers choosing only the most candied grapes at each passage. the vinification is made from oak barrels, aged one year in barrels. only the high quality selections are blended for the Château Piada growth, each vintage having its own specific character. The wine is kept in stainless steel vats until it is bottled on the estate, 18 to 20 months after harvest.
