Our estate is located on the banks of the Garonne river where we operate a 27 hectare vineyard. On gravelly and alluvial soils, Château Sainte Barbe produces its wines on AOC Bordeaux and AOC Bordeaux Supérieur.

The vine is composed of old vines and 20,000 new vines. The grape varieties are mainly Merlot, the rest is planted with Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc and Petit Verdot.

We offer Bordeaux wine lovers two red wines aged in oak barrels for different vintages from 2006 to 2015. Controlled yields and controlled maturation make our wines fruity juices, round with melted tannins when you are patient enough to age the bottle.

Our story

Château Saint Barbe, with its breathtaking view of the river, is built above the cellars on the ground floor. The stored barrels could thus be transported, by rolling them, to the river where boats transported them to England or Northern Europe.

In the middle of the 20th century, about 20,000 vines were missing. They were replaced as well as almost 5 hectares of old vines that were impossible to save. In the years following this episode of great rehabilitation, 8 hectares were replanted: almost half of the vineyard was replanted at that time.

We buy Château Sainte-Barbe in 2013 and decide to continue the efforts of the winegrowers who preceded us. Today, we harvest the grapes using a machine equipped with a berry sorting system; we continue this sorting in the cellar so that at the end of this selection we only have mature grapes.

Other little stories

As our final objective is to produce quality Bordeaux wines, we continue our efforts by managing our vineyard with a sustainable agriculture. During the 2000s, our family acquired several estates and made it possible to work more rigorously in the vineyard and cellars.
