Located 3km from the beautiful village of Peyriac-de-Mer and 15km south of Narbonne, Château Valmont is a new wine estate that was created during the 2016 harvest. We mainly produce red wines from the emblematic grape varieties of the Corbières: Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Mourvèdre. Our vineyard extends from Peyriac-de-Mer to Sigean, which gives us an alternation of soils between clayey-limestone and pebble soils. Sea spray brings freshness and humidity, which helps the vine to resist drought. Our cellar has been designed to receive the harvest by gravity, so as not to rush it and avoid the use of the pump as much as possible. Our modern and temperature-controlled cellar allows us to control our vinification and guarantee a refined, balanced wine with silky tannins.
Château Valmont is the result of a family adventure unlike any other: the Ruhlmann-Schutz family is already well established in Alsace, in Dambach-la-Ville where it vinifies a 40ha vineyard and produces a wide range of white wines from Alsace... but with the arrival of the younger generation, the family decides to diversify and complete the range of white wines with red wines..... hence the idea to venture into southern France and create Château Valmont. Today, we are proud to be able to present our first masterpiece: L'Aventure 2016 and we look forward to expanding our range with our wines which are still maturing in our cellar... The most promising thing to come: this year we have undertaken a conversion to organic farming.
Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann, the young winegrower of the family, having travelled all over France during his studies (Alsace, Champagne, Bordeaux, Languedoc but also a little further afield in California), decided to leave his suitcases in Narbonne and start growing vines and making wine at Château Valmont. Antoine Schutz, who has travelled all over the world to perfect his knowledge of marketing, management and communication, is in charge of the commercial management of Château Valmont and travels all over France and the world in search of new customers. Our first cuvée is already on the market in Japan!
