Since the middle of the 20th century, the Bortolussi family has owned this vineyard consisting of 25 hectares of AOP Madiran (20ha) and Pacherenc du Vic Bilh (5ha). It produces wines that are both concentrated and fine, with a wonderful mouthfeel, in total respect of the fruit. Knowing one's terroir, listening to the vines, not resigning oneself to following practices without questioning oneself ... this longstanding commitment for the Bortolussi family was confirmed in 2020 with the beginning of the transition to Organic Agriculture for the entire vineyard.
1952. Two hundred years after its construction by the Marquis de Viella, the castle still dominates its vineyard but for a long time the shutters have hidden life behind the high windows. My family acquired it and the vines surrounding it. 1991. I take over from my father and build in parallel my own definition of wines and give back stone after stone to the Château its soul of yesteryear. 2017. My daughters, Claire and Marion, grew up with the castle as a banner above their heads. They come back to me to be the 4th generation of winegrowers at Château de Viella, so it is together that we entrust you with the definition of our wines: responsible for our experiences, listening to our plots and understanding our grape varieties.
