A family vineyard since 1860, the Clos des Vins d'Amour has been run by the Dornier family and extends over three magical schist soils of Tautavel, Maury and Saint Paul de Fenouillet. These typical terroirs of white, grey, black and carignan Grenache give birth to dry and sweet Maury appellation wines. Being a winegrower is not a job, it is a life: an awareness, an infinite thirst for projects, discoveries, questions, surprises, captivity, friendship for the curious, a commitment to pass on know-how, to pass on culture to future generations.We have made this choice as a family, as a second life that we share. Organic farming has become a natural and obvious choice; since 2008 we have been cultivating our plots of Grenache, black, grey and white Grenache, Carignan, Macabeu and Syrah with bare hands and a chenille, listening to life, which animates the land and time, which passes with the seasons.
At Le Clos, we have a global approach to terroir and nature, between interaction and reflection. This natural balance, the purity of the terroir on the Cru Maury, and the expression of the fruit in the cellar, above all the rest, is what we like to find in our wines, and on the lively, talkative tables, teeming with beautiful seasonal produce.
"In the cellar, the intervention is minimal, when you have a good raw material, you don't have to do too much. Our job is to accompany nature's work: adapting the grape variety to the terroir, working by hand, 80% of the quality of a wine is made on the vine. Our AB label (Organic Wines) only supports this philosophy which is close to our heart": "We like to think and make wines that we want to drink: fruity, elegant wines, with finesse, much more than just beasts for competitions".
