Domaine Aymard, in Ventoux, a vineyard in the Rhone Valley, has been run by our family for three generations. Since 1979 we have been making our wines in our own private cellar. That is to say that at that time we were one of the first private cellars to set up in the appellation. Our vineyard is located in a very peaceful place, between the Dentelles de Montmirail and the foothills of the famous Mont Ventoux. The landscapes, the climate, our terroirs as well as our wines will charm you at first sight.
It all started in the 1970s with Aline and Denis Aymard, our grandparents. They started by planting vines and then harvesting grapes a few years later. The production was then vinified in a cooperative cellar but very quickly the desire to set up a private cellar and thus make our own wines came about. We were convinced of the potential of our terroirs and our "Côtes du Ventoux" appellation. In 1979, with the help of their two sons, the construction of the cellar became an achievement. Jean-Marie and Michel work hand in hand with their parents. We were then among the first independent producers within our appellation. In 2011, Anne-Laure, Jean-Marie's eldest daughter, comes to consolidate the family business with her enthusiasm for the sector. Finally, in 2019, it is the turn of Carine, the younger daughter, to come to help and to settle down in order to perpetuate this family passion, the culture of the vine and the birth of wine. Today our vineyard extends over thirty hectares located at the foot of the Mont Ventoux, Regional Natural Park. The vision we have for the cultivation of our vines is that of any winegrower who is passionate about nature and who loves it. Indeed, we favour mechanical tillage of the soil, manual pruning, green work, etc. We are also very interested in grassing, the coexistence of plant and animal species for the restoration of the ecosystem, and thus participate favourably in the life of our soils.
"EN TOUTO TRANQUILETA" as we say in Provençal, is our motto! When we were children, our father, Jean-Marie, always told us that he was on holiday all year round. After each of us had studied in the wine-growing and wine-producing world, and then made our mark in the region for one and in Burgundy and New Zealand for the other, we came back to the Domaine to work as a family.
