Domaine de Grille-Midi is a 13 hectare family winery located in Fleurie, in the heart of Beaujolais, which has now been in existence for 5 generations. We produce four appellations, three of which are vintages, all with the same and only grape variety in Beaujolais, which is Gamay Noir à jus Blanc, and we offer Beaujolais-Villages, which we produce as rosé, with the cuvée name "L'Arrosé du Matin", Chiroubles, Fleurie "Grille-Midi" and Moulin à Vent. Our vines are planted mainly on sandy-granite soils, where pink granite is very present, sometimes appearing from 30 to 40 cm deep. The vines have to draw from the deepest depths to feed themselves, which gives us distinguished wines of great finesse. Two thirds of our estate is planted on steep, very sunny slopes, but which do not always allow the mechanisation of the harvest.
For the record, the Domaine de Grille-Midi owes its name to the climate (place called "Grille-Midi") which is located in the commune of Fleurie. Most of our Fleurie parcels are exposed to this place, which owes its name to its very sunny slopes facing the rising sun, where it is very hot in summer. It is grilled for lunch until the evening. On its slopes, "Grille-Midi" forms a basin made of sand on the surface and pink granite that can be seen from a depth of 30 to 40 cm. This basin could evoke the different mountains and volcanoes of Auvergne. And because of the "Grille-Midi" and the Beaujolais mountains form the first foothills of the Massif Central. It is even said that volcanic stones were found in our vineyards....
Winegrower from father to son for 5 generations, the Domaine de Grille-Midi is a family estate that likes to work outside, in the heart of nature, respecting the terroir, which is reflected in their wines.
