The Domaine de Grimardy was converted to organic farming from 2010 to 2013. Sophie and Gaël work in the respect that we all owe to nature. The estate is surrounded by woods, meadows and coppices, small valleys and forests, typical landscapes of the Purple and Green Périgords. The wines of Montravel are top-of-the-range wines that can be kept for a long time, both in white and in red. The red and white Bergerac wines are supple and fruity, rewarded by a Hachette coup de coeur in 2020 for the 2018. The white IGP Périgord is a pleasant and fruity wine that represents the department and its 4 colours of Périgords.
In 2018, Sophie and Gaël made a passionate choice, to take over a vineyard "on a human scale" that would allow these self-taught winegrowers to manage alone, in the spirit of the Independent Winegrowers, all of the activities from the vine to the wine-making. After various courses and training, it is done in the spring of 2021, on the magnificent terroir of Montravel, located on Jurassic limestone deposits, which brings to the red wines a suppleness, aromas and a harmonious body and to the whites an aromatic complexity always renewed.
"The wine is for us the result of a long annual cycle of the vine, this incredible liana, which offers us its grapes to allow us to produce the wines that we accompany until their bottling for the pleasure of the taste buds.Accompanying the plant then the yeasts in the respect of their biological cycles is the key word of our approach in Organic Agriculture."
