At the entrance to the Saint Côme valley, in the municipality of Cadière d'Azur, is the Domaine de la Garenne. For nearly 3 centuries the De Balincourt family has been taking turns and continues to work at the Domaine de la Garenne. Today, it covers an area of 27 hectares, 22 of which are in AOC. In 1961, Count Jean de Balincourt took over the estate and made his first vinifications in 1965. About 85% of the land is devoted to the AOC Bandol viticulture. The whole culture produces 70% rosé wine and 30% red wine. On a clayey-limestone soil dating from the neo-cretaceous period, the vines, largely coloured with Mourvèdre, Cinsault, or Grenache, benefit from different micro-climates which have made it possible to control and optimise the quality of the grapes. The know-how developed over the years for the cultivation of the vine is based on traditional tillage with manual harvesting, which allows the practice of sustainable agriculture that is much more respectful of the environment.

Our story

The estate has had other activities before becoming a renowned vineyard. Indeed, before Count Jean de Balincourt took possession of the land in 1965 to practice viticulture, the land was one of the best rabbit hunting grounds in Garenne, hence its name. Come and see us to see them frolic!

Other little stories

I joined the winegrower's profession in 2000, after my father's sudden illness. Having followed a year of training at the agricultural high school in Hyères, this was not enough! Very difficult to enter this world of viticulture, in addition to a woman not very enthusiastic at the very beginning.... It was a few years later that my passion for this profession was born! Today, I present this as an opportunity to see the encounters, experiences, good and bad moments I have had over the years!

Since the beginning of my apprenticeship I have tried to magnify my wines and my know-how in order to offer my customers the best rosé wines in the world... Unfortunately, a wine is never perfect (that would be too easy!) but the further I go, the more I love my wines. That's pretty encouraging, isn't it? What annoys me? Nothing I love my job.... Recently I have also put the emphasis on the cellar, which is constantly being modernised thanks to new winemaking techniques, as well as the acquisition of new equipment such as the renewal of all the casks that produce red wines of exceptional quality for 18 months.
