Winegrowers in Muscadet since 1723
Mathilde Ollivier and Stéphane Cottenceau represent the 8th generation of winegrowers at the Grenaudière estate, taking over from Guy and Jean-Luc Ollivier. The first generations were polycultivators like the majority of the farms at the time. Over time, the family business specialized in the cultivation of vines and the production of quality dry white wines. For 150 years, 4 generations have succeeded each other to get the best out of the Melon de Bourgogne (Melon B) grape variety, emblematic of Muscadet.
A vineyard of 27 ha
Planted only with Melon B grapes, the vineyard of the Grenaudière estate covers 27.5 hectares. The parcels are located in the commune of Maisdon sur Sèvre on the slopes of the Sèvre and the Maine, the two rivers that gave their name to the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation. The vineyard is certified HVE3
, and we are committed to thinking about and reasoning about all of our cultivation practices in order to maintain a healthy ecosystem and biodiversity within our vineyards.
The vineyard is planted at a density of 7000 vines/ha.
A new generation of winemakers to continue the family heritage
Two oenologist friends have joined forces to perpetuate a tradition, that of the Grenaudière winemakers.
Mathilde and Stéphane have undertaken to continue the work of past generations while bringing innovation to continue to produce excellent dry white wines while having a strong international influence.
I, Mathilde, represent today the 8th generation of the domain. Very attached to my native land, I have always followed the gestures of my elders.
As for me, Stéphane, I was born into a family of winegrowers in the heart of Burgundy and its parcel-based vision.
I bring a new eye for the terroirs of Muscadet.
Our past experiences have allowed us to visit and work in many vineyards around the world.
Inspired by the heritage of past generations, we are proud to associate the fruit of our expertise and discoveries.
At
Domaine de la Grenaudière, the wines are aged on lees for between 6 and 60 months.
We age the wines in glassed-in underground vats. The very good thermal inertia of these underground tanks allows a storage and a quality breeding.
This is the result of a meticulous and reasoned work from the vineyard to the vinification.
The maturation on lees brings a great stability to the wines and an optimal maturation which brings them fatness and aromatic complexity.
We claim to be artists. Indeed, we are composers of nuances! We are always happy to make you discover this range of wines which - in its youth - combines freshness and fruit, offers woody evolutions on certain vintages and - in the maturity of the old vintages - offers the complexity, the richness and the elegance of our Cru Communal Clisson.
