The Domaine is anchored on the land of Saint Cyr en Bourg, located next to Saumur. It is a family property with 30 hectares, in conversion to organic farming. The Domaine de Nerleux will charm you with its buildings and especially with its tuffeau soils, a limestone rock of our region but also an essential component of our underground world. Generous, it has the ability to absorb excess water to release it at the most opportune moments and thus give ample and supple wines with silky tannins.

Our story

In the 1870s, Eugène Neau, from a line of winegrowers in Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg, bought the Domaine de Nerleux to expand his vineyard. He then passed it on to his son Eugène, who in turn passed it on to Robert. In 1936, Robert Neau, just 15 years old, came to help his father. In 1974, Régis decided to join forces with his parents on the estate, which at the time had 18 hectares of vines.

Elisabeth left her job as a teacher and decided to work alongside her husband on the estate from 1989. Amélie, their daughter, works in the banking sector, but her roots will call her back to the estate. The year 2010 marks Amélie's return to the Domaine. She is the ninth generation of this winegrowing family.

She is the first woman at the head of Domaine de Nerleux. She does her utmost to highlight the typicality of our appellations. Amélie also makes more surprising wines. Often rewarded, they reflect the know-how of a winegrower who has at heart to preserve the heritage that has been entrusted to her.

Other little stories

Surrounded by a father and grandfather who were winegrowers, my passion for wine was already anchored in me, indeed "I fell into it when I was little". When I arrived at the Domaine, I created a new Crémant de Loire wine: "L'art des Loups". Passionate about fine bubbles, I wanted to make a more atypical wine. 100% grapes since no sugar, liqueur or even sulphur is added at the bottling stage, I invite you to discover this extra brut and natural Crémant, subtle and elegant. Training courses with Burgundian friends are very good memories and they were very formative.

The Domaine de Nerleux has belonged to the Neau family since 1870. The estate has been passed down through 9 generations. The young people have brought new ideas to the domain and have been able to adapt to new technologies, while the older generations have been able to pass on their wisdom and experience in order to keep a guarantee of quality in all our vintages. Nerleux means "Black Wolves" in old French. Today, I am thinking of developing wine tourism at the Domaine: guided tours, escape game, gîte...
