Anecdotes about the domain

When I arrived in this profession, which cannot be practiced without passion, I discovered a friendly, helpful and sharing atmosphere. This is also the job of a winegrower, to meet other winegrowers and to share the same passion, each one with his own human affinities but also with his own taste, this is the richness of a region and of the men who make this job.

The domain's short story

It is in 2014 that everything started for me. After 26 years in horticulture, the desire to change, the chance of some meetings and there it changes. So I bought this domain in the Coteaux du Layon to start this new adventure and write a new personal story. Obviously, you have to like wine but not only: the history of the domain is simple, the only will of a man, farmer, who made wine for his pleasure. So to take over is to create the tools to develop and improve, without denying the qualities of the past.

The winemaker's pride

The domain is composed of 15 hectares of vines on soils that are so different from one parcel to another, even though they are located close to each other on pebbles. Hence the origin of the name of the Domaine "Chailloux" which means pebbles in local patois. These deep clay soils give as many behaviors of vines that we must learn to read before imagining to master them. The result is present as it gives naturally concentrated wines typical of the region. And then, the old non-palmed vines are my favorite, they are so beautiful with their gnarled wood and arms that go down to the ground. This is all that I am discovering with happiness since I became a winemaker.
