Domaine Du Grand Clos

The Domaine Du Grand Clos is one of the few wineries with the Saumur appellation located north of Vienne. Our vines extend over 30 hectares on a clay-limestone soil based on an atypical hillside above troglodyte cellars. This typicality gives our wines vintages with an aromatic richness and an exceptional elegance, which remains specific to the identity of the Domaine. Our terroir defines each year our wines spread over 7 appellations and which moreover their particularity remains specific to its grape variety (cabernet franc, chardonnay, chenin).

Our story

The winegrower Damien Robert is the 6th generation with a beautiful transmission of family know-how. Each year, the recognition of his work is made known by his award-winning wines. Passionate about his profession and with a high standard in the production of his wines, where he seeks to improve his methods with each vintage. Damien Robert strives above all for quality through his wines, which is why some vintages are born in exceptional years. It is a source of pride for my husband to have taken over the continuation of this adventure after his father Alain and his grandfather André and to have launched direct sales in 2004. It is also very rewarding to be recognized by our customers for the quality of our products. Our estate is atypical in its representation, in fact beautiful troglodyte cellars but above all out of the ordinary have been dug on 5000 m2. Many stones have been extracted to build castles, dwellings and villages. Beautiful skylights have allowed these blocks of stones to come out. These cellars are real assets for the conservation of our vintages but also for the optimal vinification of each wine. A human story has occurred on our site and more is being discovered over time. The walls of this cellar allow us to retrace a part of the past... Since 2016 his wife Sabrina has joined him in the adventure of this vineyard...
