Le Grand Cros is a family estate of 24 hectares, located next to the small village of Carnoules, in the centre of the Var. At the foot of the Maures mountain, the production is mainly composed of rosé, completed by pretty reds and a small production of white. Some olive trees also offer a homemade olive oil for sale. The estate was acquired in 1989 by Jane and Hugh Faulkner. Their son Julian took over the reins in 2000. As soon as he arrived, he made important changes in the estate such as a weather station to adjust the work on the vines and not to use insecticides, but also an infrared camera to determine the optimal ripening date for the harvest. He therefore managed to combine art and science to ensure the quality of the wines.
THE BIG CROS is first and foremost the story of a couple, Jane and Hugh Faulkner, who fell in love with a small corner of Provence in 1989. On the 24 hectares, at the foot of the Maures massif, where vineyards, pines and olive trees meet, they restore an authentic Provençal Mas and breathe new life into the GRAND CROS. Their son Julian joined them in 2000, took over the estate and made profound changes in the management of the vineyard and cellar, in order to fully exploit the great potential of our terroir and respect the environment.
OUR VALUEIn order to
respect our environment as well as the quality and authenticity of our wines as much as possible, Julian has combined art and science. We have been pioneers in terms of technology with tools such as a weather station, which makes it possible to adjust the work on the vines as closely as possible and not to use insecticides, or an infrared camera which makes it possible to calculate the optimal ripening date of the grapes for the harvest. But despite everything, science does not allow us to answer all our questions, and it is at this moment that the art and instinct of the winegrower take over to ensure the quality of the wines and preserve the spirit of the Domaine du Grand Cros.
Julian Faulkner has a passion: to offer our customers wines of high quality, but also with a perfect price-quality ratio.
The Esprit de Provence and Nectar historical ranges represent the quintessence of Provence. The
Jules range, on the other hand, includes light and festive wines that will delight the greatest number of people.
Ms. Faulkner is a professional artist and has passed on her passion to the Grand Cros team. Our sales cellar therefore regularly hosts art
exhibitions.
The 24 hectares of vines are intertwined with pines, olive trees and terraces. What a joy to stroll between the vines of the estate.
