They call themselves the Ch'tis winegrowers of Saumur! Agriculture is in the family's veins. Originally from the North of France, the Desgrousilliers family went from growing cereals and raising dairy cattle to growing vines with an unwavering enthusiasm. In 2002, Hervé and Christine embarked on the winegrowing adventure out of a passion for wine.
Originally from the North of France, the family has moved from cereals and dairy farming to vine-growing with undiminished enthusiasm. In 2002, Hervé and Christine embarked on their winegrowing adventure out of a passion for wine. Located in the heart of the Saumur appellation, the Domaine du Moulin de l'Horizon vineyard covers 30 hectares. Cabernet Franc accounts for 50%, Chenin Blanc for 30% and Chardonnay for 20%. All three colors are represented, and bubbles are our expertise. Our clay-limestone tuffeau soils retain winter rainfall. As a result, our vines benefit from the regular water supply needed for perfect grape ripening. This characteristic is the source of our supple, fruity wines. The Moulin de l'Horizon style is singular: brightly fruity, with a savory palate and elegant ripeness.
The Butte du Moulin de l'Horizon is one of the highest points in the Saumur region. At 110m above sea level, it protects our vineyards from the westerly winds. Our bubbles are made entirely in our own cellars: secondary fermentation in the bottle is a real challenge. It's our passion and our pleasure to guarantee you exceptional vintages.
