Anecdotes about the domain
Our Cuvée Légende Le Sang du Dragon is made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes grown on the plains and hillsides of the Brand. It takes its name from the legend of the ancestral life of the dragons who lived on the Brand, and whose blood, following their death, spilled into the soil, making it more fertile. These parcels are densely planted and yields are low, resulting in a richer, more concentrated wine. This cuvée is aged in barrels for between 18 and 20 months.
The domain's short story
Since the early 90s, we've been working to give our vineyards the best possible treatment. In 1998, we were pioneers in the region, aiming to preserve as many plant and animal species as possible in the vineyard. That same year, our vineyard was certified organic by Ecocert. Continuing in this vein and raising our standards to give the vines back their natural aspect, in 2001 we were awarded the Biodynamic vineyard label by Biodyvin.Pierre and Thomas, currently winemakers at the domaine, like to say: "Biodynamics adds a layer of complexity and purity to ensure balanced wines"; "The high quality of our wines is directly linked to the attention we pay to the vines".
The winemaker's pride
Our family vineyard is located in the commune of Turckheim, near Colmar. We cultivate our 12 hectares of vines on south-facing granite soil: an ideal location for a vineyard. We produce 4 distinct ranges of Crémants d'Alsace, Grands Crus and Vendanges Tardives. The vines include Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurtztraminer and Pinot Noir. Our 4 ranges are made up of a Crémant d'Alsace, 10 single-vineyard Tradition cuvées, 3 Grands Crus Brand and a Clos de la Treille, and two Vendanges Tardives (late harvest).we give our best to the vines to obtain controlled yields and a grape maturity that will bring out the incredible characteristics of the soil on which the vineyard is planted.
