The Ginglinger Pierre Henri estate is composed of 15 hectares of vines and extends over three communes: Eguisheim, Herrlisheim, Wuenheim. Since 2001, the vines have been cultivated in Organic Agriculture. The whole range of Alsatian grape varieties is represented: Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Sylvaner, Pinot Gris, and Gewurztraminer. On these 15 ha, there are 4.36 ha of A.O.C Alsace Grand Cru which are Eichberg, Pfersigberg and Ollwiller, unique and generous terroirs.
In 1610, a period when viticulture was still in fermage, the Ginglinger family practiced polyculture on the estate located in the cradle of Alsace wines in Eguisheim. In 1986, Henri Ginglinger and his wife took over the family farm, which was composed of 1.30 hectares with the aim of increasing the surface area of the estate. This objective was achieved since in 1969, they cultivated 5.30 ha of vines. In 1976, Pierre Henri Ginglinger, his wife Martha and their sons decided to take over the property. The estate is expanding since thanks to them, it is composed of 9 ha. In 2001, the 12th generation took over the estate with Mathieu. In 2011, the surface area of the farm will increase to 15 hectares and it is currently managed by Mathieu and his wife Stéphanie.
For centuries, we have been committed to producing quality wines, but also to taking care of the environment. Indeed, any good winegrower will be able to tell you: "To have a good wine, you must have good grapes". Yes, but how can you get good grapes? By respecting the earth. And our family has long understood this, which is why we practice organic farming.
Since 2001, the vines have been cultivated in organic viticulture, which does not intend to use any synthetic treatment products and fertilizers. In this way, we avoid any pollution and protect both flora and fauna. We allow the soil's microbial life to develop to support the natural ecosystem. A natural grass cover is present every other row, the other row is ploughed. This allows the production of qualitative wines, representative of their terroir, because the vine can draw the maximum from the character of the soil.
