"The Vallée Noble is my country and the Grand Cru Zinnkoepflé my little homeland. About twenty kilometres south of Colmar, the vines of the Jean-Marie Haag estate descend steep slopes in this narrow valley called the Vallée Noble, closed in like a jewel box, a circus. The particularly dry climate here gives the vines the potential for over-ripening and allows for the production of concentrated, fine wines with incredible length. As soon as you arrive in Soultzmatt, the Zinnkoepfle classified as a Grand Cru is an impressive sight. This south and south-east facing terroir, composed of shell limestone (Muschelkalk) and Avoltzia sandstone (Bundsandstein), is one of the peaks of the Alsatian vineyards. To preserve the quality and expression of the grapes, the harvesting of the plots located on the hillsides is done exclusively by hand. To preserve the quality and expression of the grapes, the harvesting of the plots of land located on the hillsides is done exclusively by hand, which is why, after several months in the cellar, the wines offer complex aromas, length and great finesse. All gastronomic combinations are then possible.
Three apples high, Jean-Marie likes to follow his father in the vineyards and in the cellar. On the eve of his 20th birthday, his father died and Jean-Marie naturally took over the business, in 1982. In 1983, Myriam timidly entered the circle while continuing her studies. Fervent defender of the communal appellation "Vallée Noble", Jean-Marie was president of the local wine union and then of the management of the Grand Cru Zinnkoepflé, while Myriam is a member of the association of women of wine, the diVINes d'Alsace. This is why they both enjoy promoting Alsace wines.
