Domaine la Fourmone is a family history that has been going on since 1010. The building dates back to 1765. The 5th generation of the Combe family continues to uphold the ancestral traditions of winemaking and works the vineyard in organic farming. We are very fortunate to be able to work in an exceptional location.
The vineyard consists of 40 hectares. We work the vines in organic farming. Each plot benefits from work adapted to its terroir. Thus we respect the expression of the grape variety on a soil. Our vines in Vacqueyras are mainly located around the Domaine.
The Gigondas vineyards are located on the southern slope of the Dentelles de Montmirail. The vineyard benefits from a clear sunshine and perfect ventilation. The vinification takes place in Vacqueyras in the heart of the vineyard.
The Fourmone draws its semantic roots from the word "Fromentum": wheat; the wheat of today which was once cultivated on the estate's lands... Very quickly, the house turned away from its initial destiny. The region, the climate and the soil encouraged the people to cultivate the vines in Vacqueyras.
Since then, they have remained undisturbed around the estate, and the culture of wheat remains linked to the heritage of La Fourmone, which is why we have chosen its ear as the emblem of our house.
