Our family vineyard is located between Pic Saint Loup and the Mediterranean, in the Hérault. About ten kilometres from Montpellier, we cultivate a little more than 50 hectares of vines in the PGI appellation of the Vins des Pays d'Oc. Located on clay-limestone soils, the vine is strongly influenced by Mediterranean and continental climates: all its character comes from this particularity: we are at the end of the transition between sustainable agriculture and organic farming: from winemaking to vine growing, including harvesting, we respect the Languedoc terroir. Our motivation remains to have the smallest impact on the environment and even to maintain and develop the ecosystems present in the vines. The blending of our wines is based on the 12 grape varieties that we work on the estate such as Viognier, Vermentino, Grenache, Rolle, Merlot and Syrah. We offer to lovers of southern wines 7 vintages in white, red and rosé.

Our story

Domaine Massillan: it's a family story, a real one! It began in 1750 when Antoine Reboul settled in the region and bought 5 hectares of vines, olive trees and pastures. The purpose of this exploitation was initially to feed his family, year after year, the family developed the vineyard and created a cellar in Crès. In 1910, it was Joseph Reboul who planted new varieties such as Aramont, Carignan and Cinsault. When in 1956 the vineyard was heavily attacked by the frost that ravaged the vines of the South of France, he decided to restructure the estate and start vinifying 15 hectares of vines on his estate. when Eugène took over the reins, he closed the cellar, which had become too complicated to manage and worked with the cooperative cellars of Assas and Vendargues. When Jean-Marie took over the business, he bought new plots and planted improving varieties such as Merlot or Syrah. Guillaume then joined his father and together he created the first vintage of the estate in the early 2000s.

Other little stories

Our logo, represented by an ammonite (a marine animal of the mollusc class and a distant cousin of the Nautile, the name of the emblematic cuvée), was inspired by the discovery of Eugène, the winemaker's grandfather. He was ploughing a plot of land when he fell on this fossil of a particularly rare circumference and weight. This witness of life in the Mesozoic period is visible in the vault.
