Henri Milan founded his estate in Saint-Rémy-en-Provence with the desire to produce "wines that don't hurt the head" and that are environmentally friendly. He is a precursor of biodynamic viticulture and sulfite-free vinification since 1987, there is not a single chemical product on the estate. Théophile has been working alongside his father since 2014 and is preparing to take over the vineyard.
Domaine Milan is located near the mountain "Les Alpilles" and benefits from its climate conducive to the originality of the terroir. The soil is made up of blue marl on limestone scree and gravel mixed with marine sand from the quaternary period for the Clos Milan. Add this to Henri's sensitivity and you will find complex, fine wines of great harmony. All without filtration, without added sulfur and certified organic.
We obtained organic farming certification in 2002, but we have not used chemical fertilizers since 1987. The parcels of the domain have been planted by blending grape varieties, which creates a diversity that favors the expression of the terroir. Since 2014, Théophile, Henri's son, has joined the estate and brings a new breath to the Domaine.
We do not consider our job as a winemaker as a technical work, but rather as an accompaniment that we do to the vine. In our opinion, the vine alone is enough to generate a multitude of aromas and sensations that a machine alone can never achieve.
