The village of Saint Martin d'Ardèche was created at the crossroads of four wine regions, where the meeting of the Ardèche and the Rhône rivers forms a delta. The climate is temperate and close to the Mediterranean type. This site extends to the foot of the Saint Marcel hills and faces the ramparts of Aiguèze, nestled in the middle of the garrigue and holm oak groves. This village, once known for its cherry orchards, is now a place known for its AOC Côte du Rhône wines.
The presence of Grenache noir, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Carignan grapes allows the appellation "Côtes du Rhône rouge" and "Côtes du Rhône blanc", the latter with the marriage of Grenache blanc, Viognier and Marsanne.
The Domaine Nicolas Croze is the work of four generations. The vineyard extends over four communes in the Ardèche. In total, we work a surface of more than 30 hectares since 1994 when we settled in Cave Particulière.
The diversity of the soils allows us to create wines of very different typicities. From fruity and greedy wines, coming from the clay-limestone plots, to more structured and full-bodied wines, coming from the stony limestone plots. There is something for everyone!
We have decided to work our domain in reasoned culture, in order to respect the nature and the vines. This is why we harvest by hand, which also allows us to ensure a selective sorting of our grapes. In the same way, we privilege the traditional methods (whole grape harvest, punching of the cap, carbonic maceration) during the vinification we use various traditional methods. Vinified, raised and bottled at the property, our wines are the exclusive product of our vineyard. We have been awarded the HVE3 (High Environmental Value) label for all of our production in 2021.
"We don't just produce wine, we perpetuate a story that has been ours for 4 generations, a story that is told, learned, and grown, with the love of a family and its land."
