Our vineyard is spread over three terroirs:
- The black schist at Espira-de-l'Agly (grape varieties: Macabeu, white Grenache, grey Grenache, Mourvèdre, Vermentino, Roussanne, Viognier, Muscat). Elegant, subtle, salty wines, with a beautiful freshness.
- Granitic rolled pebbles in Perpignan (grape varieties: Syrah, Grenache noir). Fresh, round and fruity
wines.
- The white limestones in Calce (Carignan, Black Grenache, Syrah). Structured wines, with a beautiful natural
acidity. The
entire estate is run in Organic Agriculture.
We vinify in a traditional way, without artifice and with strict limits on inputs.
All our whites are hand-picked. Our red selections as well.
The Domaine Rière Cadène, it's a family story... Jean (Rière) and Fernande (Cadène) have formed a vineyard of about thirty hectares, at first operated as a cooperative winery.
In 1994, their son Jean-François and his wife Laurence decided to vinify the production themselves. Since then, 100% of the grapes are processed by us and sold in bottles. In 2015, Guillem, their nephew, joins the adventure.
Two seasoned farmers and a fresh pair of eyes. Crossed paths that make up the richness of the Domaine and forge its signature.
Granny's chicken with prawns is in everyone's memory. When she added a glass of Rancio to the hot frying pan, she projected these characteristic balsamic smells into the air and under our nostrils! An intoxicating sensation of time that slows down seizes us... In century-old barrels that belonged to my great grandfather Fernand, we perpetuate the long tradition of oxidative wines from Roussillon.
