Grassy vines in the scrubland. The snow-covered peaks to the west. The Mediterranean as a backdrop. Welcome to Roussillon. Here, our family has been working the vines since 1904 on exceptional terroirs. On the programme: precision, freshness, elegance and delicacy. Our 30ha vineyard is divided into two geographical areas with very distinct characteristics: the shales of the Agly valley and the rolled pebbles of the Têt. For many years, we have been working without pesticides or herbicides. For a better understanding of this approach, we are now in the process of obtaining Organic Agriculture certification (conversion), and our permanent concern is to allow a balance to be established between the vine and its fragile but effective environment. The auxiliary fauna and microorganisms in the soil can then fulfil their precious mission much better than we would do. There is life in our vineyards, and that is really precious!
We love wine as much for the sensory pleasure it brings as for the story it tells. That of the vines that gave birth to it, of the winegrower who raised it. Some would like to approach wine from the chemical side: SO², H2SO4, C2H6O... For us, the beauty of the job is elsewhere. Before taking over the family estate, Laurence and Jean-François wanted to grow flowers. They already had a peasant soul and this first horticultural love probably influenced their approach to wine, and before converting to the profession of winegrower, Guillem travelled all over Africa. Temptation to the open sea. Formation among the Burgundians, then return to the roots. Two seasoned farmers and a fresh perspective. Crossed paths that make the richness of the Domaine and forge its signature.
When she added a glass of Rancio to the hot frying pan, she projected these characteristic balsamic smells into the air and under our nostrils! An intoxicating sensation of time that slows down seizes us... In century-old barrels that belonged to my great grandfather Fernand, we perpetuate the long tradition of oxidative wines from Roussillon.
