Domaine Salel & Renaud

The vineyard of Domaine Salel & Renaud was created in 2008 in the Cévennes Ardéchoises where 3 ha of vines were cultivated, a garage was used as a cellar... Everything had to be redone! Today the vineyard extends over 11 hectares of vines cultivated on terraces between 300 and 500 metres above sea level, amidst remarkable landscapes shaped by the elders that Benoit and Élise wish to preserve for future generations.

Some parcels cannot be mechanized because of their inclination, so everything is worked by hand like some vineyards in the Northern Rhône Valley. Harvesting is exclusively manual in order to sort the grapes from the vine. This vineyard at altitude produces wines with a beautiful freshness, great finesse and great elegance.

Our story

Starting from scratch, it's quite a challenge! From courses in wine training, internships and jobs with passionate winegrowers, it didn't take long to transmit the vine and wine virus to Élise and Benoit. Creating a domain was very quickly an obvious choice for this distinguished couple.

Not being from the agricultural community, settling in was not a simple or easy thing. It was necessary to prove oneself in the vineyards and in the cellar to see the result in the bottles. A bet won! Élise and Benoit are now in love with their vines and their work and this is reflected in the personality of their wines. Wines of "builders", frank, generous, honest and without artifice, like them. Their greatest pride is to discover, through their wines, the wonderful terroirs of the South of the Ardèche, which are little known but which have nothing to be ashamed of when compared with the terroirs of the Côtes du Rhône Septentrionale.
