Located in Scherwiller, the Frey-Sohler estate is the story of several generations linked to wine and the village. Today, two brothers, Nicolas and Damien run the estate. Jean, the third brother of a sibling group of six children, also works there. Since 2015, the sixth generation has joined the family estate.
Our estate is Terra Vitis certified.Terra Vitis is a network of several hundred winegrowers from all the French winegrowing regions. They share the same love of a generous and living land, worked with respect.
The name of the Frey-Sohler estate comes from the association of grandfather Xavier Frey (born in 1902) and his son-in-law Charles Sohler, who together ran the family business. Today, the family farms about thirty hectares, including a grand cru and the increasingly recognized "Scherwiller" appellation communale. The quality of Frey-Sohler wines is illustrated by the awarding of multiple medals and its presence in numerous wine guides.
The profession of winegrower is largely associated with the quality of the terroir on which we work. Today, Frey-Sohler is committed to preserving the quality of the environment and protecting people. This desire is illustrated by the membership of Terra Vitis, a sustainable viticulture approach. Each step of the production cycle is checked to ensure optimal product quality. All the details integrated into the Terra Vitis® approach make it possible to offer consumers healthy and authentic wines, leaving the terroir to express itself fully.
In Scherwiller, the vineyard is divided into two very distinct terroirs. They are only one kilometre apart, but it is by tasting our wines that you will appreciate a very marked difference. It is with great pleasure that we vinify these particularities and present our different wines to you during tastings.
