My name is Claude Rivier and I am 55 years old. My wife Nathalie and I have three children: Mathieu the eldest and the twins Pauline and Marjorie. Maison Rivier is located in the Gard region, 30 minutes north of Avignon. I took over the 7ha family estate in 1981, the vine is a heritage that has been passed down from generation to generation, and today my son Mathieu has joined me on the estate to develop the marketing of Maison RIVIER wines. We sell about 30,000 bottles a year in white, rosé and red in the Côtes-du-Rhône and Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Chusclan appellations. Our vintages are named after our ancestors: Madeleine, Joseph and Augustin and we sell them in bottles, magnum, jeroboam and soon Methuselah.
Sharing knowledge and passion for the winegrowing profession is what has been passed on to us by the generations that preceded us on the estate, and it is our main objective with regard to future generations.
For me being a winegrower is a story of sharing, of transmission between generations. This is the legacy we receive but also the one we will pass on to future generations. My greatest pride is when my son joined me on the farm in 2016 to build Maison Rivier together to make the farm sustainable.
