Close to the town of Jouques, on the edge of the holm oak hills, the vines are located on the Bèdes plateau, at an altitude of 420 metres. The estate, which covers more than 75 hectares, is one of the largest areas of the AOP Côteaux d'Aix en Provence. The Mistral Wind protects the vines and dries them after the rain or morning dew. These optimal conditions; cool nights and 300 days of sunshine, allow a perfect cultivation of the estate's flagship grape varieties; Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault.
Founded in 1880, I took over the Grande Séouve estate in 2010 and renamed it Maison St AiX. Based in Amsterdam where I ran an advertising agency, I decided to reconnect with my lifelong passion for wine. I said to myself, "The Dutch produce cheese, why not wine?" Since the takeover of the estate, we have replanted 4 hectares of vines each year, mainly Syrah and Grenache, we have modernised all the installations with the latest equipment; pneumatic presses, temperature of the tanks under control.... Today, we export our wine all over the world; to the United States, China and all over Europe.
Our coat of arms is inspired by the Chinese symbol of the two mandarin ducks, which evokes joy, sharing and eternal love. A true embodiment of pleasure and conviviality, our goal is to transmit these values through our wine; a rosé that is easy to drink and share with friends, while retaining its beautiful complexity.
